Married:     1980 to Richard J. Dragon, D.M.D.

Children:    Joshua R. Dragon; homeschooled K-12 graduated UNR in 2006; B.S. Civil

Engineering, employed by Theil Engineering Corporation, Reno, NV

        Joseph A. Dragon, homeschooled K-8, graduated 2006 from Douglas High School,

Currently a junior at UNR

        David A. Dragon, homeschooled K-12, currently a sophomore at UNR

 

In 1990, I began the journey of homeschooling our three sons from Kindergarten through the 12th Grade.  In addition to homeschooling the boys and working as the Business Manager for my husband’s dental practice, I served the Nevada homeschool population in various capacities over the last eighteen years.

1994 – Present         Consultant to new homeschool parents as well as teaching workshops and seminars on how to homeschool children.

1994 – 1998             Silver State Education Association, Treasurer

1996 – 1997             Northern Nevada Home Schools, Inc., Co-Chair

1998 – 2003             Hilltop Community Church; Helping Out Parent Educators, Leader

1998 – 2007             Member of Northern Nevada Homeschool Advisory Council to the Nevada State Board of Education,Vice President from1999-2005.

 2005, 07- Present   Nevada Homeschool Network, Treasurer

 

In 2007, I co-authored SB404 the “Homeschool Freedom Bill” and with NHN ushered the bill through the 2007 Nevada State Legislative Session.  The bill was passed, unanimously, in both the Nevada State Senate and Nevada State Assembly and signed into law on June 14, 2007 by Governor Jim Gibbons.

 

I am currently teaching workshops on “Homeschooling Through High School to College and Life”.  My desire is to encourage and equip homeschool parents to finish the race so your students will say to you, “Thanks Mom and Dad!”
