The Lattin Family has been farming the Lahontan Valley for five generations. Since 1977, the family has pioneered the production of red raspberries in Nevada. Along with generations of farmers, there have also been 5 generations of teachers. Currently, there are 3 Nevada certified teachers and 2 certified substitutes in the family collaborating to make each child's trip to the farm educational and best of all fun.

Why take a farm tour?

As times have changed children are not exposed to farming and agriculture as often. The closest contact to farming is the produce section at the local store. On a farm tour students have an opportunity to take a hands on approach to learning agricultural basics. All tours are adapted to students' age group and ability.
Educational tours give students the opportunity to learn how things grow and the workings of a farm. This includes appropriate lessons on pollination, plant harvesting and uses, plant and animal characteristics, and measuring methods. Features of the tours include:
  • A tractor-drawn hayride to the Pumpkin Patch!
  • Pick your perfect pumpkin from one of the largest pumpkin patches in the area.
  • Pick a variety of produce from the Pick Your Own Gardens (carrots, raspberries, grapes, tomatoes, flowers.)
  • Interactive alfalfa unit - Learn about the importance of alfalfa in our lives.
  • Visit the animals in Critterville. See the goats on the goat walk, feed chickens, bunnies,20and turkeys. Dress the cow and learn how humans and animals are alike and different.
  • Students will learn where food comes from. They will get samples of food from our on-farm kitchen.

What students take home

Our fun educational tours give kids the opportunity to learn about how things grow and the workings of a farm. This includes:

  • A bag of produce or a pumpkin
  • Most importantly, all the FUN memories and learning on the Farm.

Lunch

Homemade lunch packs are available for educational tours. The country kitchen also offers breads, jams, cinnamon rolls and other specialty items. Of course, you may bring your own lunches.

Fun Combo Pack - $6.00 per person
