NV State Requirements

If a parent wants to homeschool in Nevada, and their child is between the ages of seven and seventeen of age, parents must notify their local school district of their intent to homeschool.

You do not have to get permission, it is the law in the State of Nevada that a parent has the right to homeschool their child.

There is no exact form that parents are required to use, but using a Notice of Intent to Homeschool Form gives an easy and convenient way to help comply with Nevada State requirements.

Feel free to print off the form from our website - click the Notice of Intent button on the left.  If you need help with this form contact Nevada Christian Home School.

This new form, provided by Nevada Homeschool Network in 2006, must be completed ONCE for each child.  You must also provide a educational plan for each child in the area of English, Math, Science and Social Studies (see item 4 on Notice of Intent).

The good news is we are only required to complete this form once!  Unless the name or address of the parent or child changes, or the child is reentering homeschool after being enrolled in a public school.

To find out where to file your Notice of Intent to Homeschool form in your county, go to our School District page OR the Nevada State Department of Education provides names and phone numbers of District Administrators you can contact at http://www.doe.nv.gov/schools/homeschooling.html.

This webpage also provides information of Nevada Universities and Colleges.

Remember, you don’t need permission to homeschool, parents have the legal option to homeschool in Nevada.

IF YOU PLAN TO HOMESCHOOL WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SPEAK DIRECTLY TO A HOMESCHOOL PARENT.  Be sure to ask them if they have experience in the grade your child is in.  PLEASE CALL US AT (775) 742-9076 to get accurate information about homeschooling.

Homeschool parents should seriously consider becoming a member of the HOME SCHOOL LEGAL DEFENSE ASSOCIATION. There is a simple form to complete and return. We have the forms available, just contact us and we will be happy to assist you. If you ever have a problem, HSLDA is available to help, but you must be a member FIRST. So, it may be to your advantage to protect your family and join HSLDA. YOU MAY ALSO MAKE LOW MONTHLY OR QUARTERLY PAYMENTS OR CHARGE IT TO YOUR CREDIT CARD.  Nevada Christian Home School members receive a discount from HSLDA!  Contact us to receive your discount!

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to contact Nevada Christian Home School.
