Poetry Out Loud 2010

for home school students 9th through 12th grade.

                                     You are invited to see Alyssa participate in the District Semifinals held Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center.  The contest will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.  The McKinley Arts & Culture Center is located at 925 Riverside Drive in Reno.


 

Now is the time to prepare for the 2011 competition!  Nevada Christian Home School is very pleased to provide homeschool teens with this opportunity.  Perfect for homeschoolers, all preparation may be completed at home using online resources.  Poems and teaching tips needed for this competition may be found on the official Poetry Out Loud website:  http://www.poetryoutloud.org 

Competition Date:  Friday, January 15th, 2010

Time:  6 p.m.

Place:  Cornerstone Foursquare Church

320B Coney Island Drive, Sparks

Student must have two poems selected from the Anthology.

No props or costumes are allowed.

Visitors are welcome.

 

All students interested in competing with NCHS must register by December 18th by completing the form below.  Must be a member of Nevada Christian Home School.


NCHS Competition will be held January 15th 2010, 6 p.m. at the Sparks Cornerstone Foursquare Church, 320B Coney Island Drive, Sparks, NV
Finalists from this competition will advance to the county level.
The state competition will be held in Reno on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
The top three students at the State finals will receive cash prizes as follows: 1st place - $1,000.00, 2nd place - $500.00; 3rd place $500.00.
The National Final will be held on April 25-27, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

Criteria for Poem selection for State competition:
Students will be required to have three poems prepared: One poem must be 25 lines or shorter and one must be written before the 20th century. The same poem may be used to meet both requirements.
